Düsseldorf has the second-highest concentration of taxis anywhere in Germany. So you'll have no trouble hailing a cab any time, day or night, to get you safely to your destination.

As of 25 November 2008 new taxi fares will be in force in Düsseldorf. Included in these fares is a fixed price of 13 EUR for taxi rides between the airport and Messe Düsseldorf or back. Waiting periods and surcharges are not permitted to be charged additionally to the fixed price for Messe Düsseldorf.

There is a new fare structure for all other taxi rides. The new basic charge is called "City-Tarif". The cost is 5.50 EUR and already includes a ride of up to 2 km. Within the 5.50 EUR a waiting period of up to 2 minutes is also included. Should there be longer waiting periods (due to traffic conditions or per passenger request); there will be a charge of 0.45 EUR per minute. After the first two kilometres, each additional kilometre will cost 1.70 EUR, regardless of whether it is day, night, Sunday or a holiday.

In every single Düsseldorf taxi there must be a sticker with the new taxi fare system.
